Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) with answers, listed by topic, to help you appreciate who we are, what we do, and how we can effectively serve as your partner.

What services does AlderMed provide?

AlderMed treats NMSC at the “point of care” with a proven non-surgical solution that has been documented to obtain the same results as Mohs, only without a scar. We are a Strategic Partner with Gulmay Medical, the manufacture of the Xstrahl-100. Our service eliminates the high cost of the equipment and large demand on the physician’s time with our “turn-key” service that shares the system with other practices in a way that is totally transparent to the patients and office staff.

Are you focused solely on Dermatology related practices?

Our services are designed specifically to meet the unique needs of Dermatology and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery practices.

What are the benefits of insourcing my NMSC patients for AlderMed services?

By insourcing your SRT patients to AlderMed, you no longer have to refer the patient out of your practice. You control the entire procedure from scheduling to billing. We take care of all in between. Your patients can now appreciate the convenience of your office, while your practice grows with their referrals.

What differentiates AlderMed from other medical service companies?

Our staffing service agreements are based on the optimum fractionated treatment for NMSC.  By providing each 60 second treatment over a pre-scheduled session, you are able to build your patient volume  during the weeks that the system is working in another location. This concentrates the patient treatments and maximizes your revenue stream

The Xstrahl-100 remains sited ( in your office or as a mobile coach) at your location for the entire session. The SRT -100 is capable of treating one patient every 10-15 minutes from patient intake to session closure. This treatment service model allows smaller sized practices grow with their practices specific needs and patient volume.

Does it require a long-term contract?

No. The AlderMed’s agreement is for only 12 months and renewable for 12 month increments. We can flexibly be configured to meet the immediate and growing needs of your practice in that critical start up phase.

If I am a Mohs surgeon won’t I lose surgical revenue by offering a “non-surgical” solution?

No. SRT is a treatment choice that you and your patient make. But it is clear that as consumer awareness grows, such a service will draw more patients to your practice. Every patient that goes to SRT saves the MD approximately 1-3 hours to see other patients.

Do I need to generate a specific revenue amount to use your services?

Yes and No. A detailed CPT code analysis is also performed to better appreciate your demographic utilization. We review each prospective customer on an individual basis to determine if it makes financial sense for both parties to engage in a service contract, as there are many variables involved.

AlderMed performs the licensing and registration and makes certain that your treatment room has the proper shielding for safe treatments. Rob Schumacher, NMT, RRT is our radiation safety officer.

Is there any risk associated with these treatments?

No. The SRT -100 has many built in safety features and the use of a highly trained RRT insures the safe and effective use of this valuable treatment procedure right in your office.

Besides the staffing service fee, is there any other cost?

No. The Xstrahl-100 only uses a small amount of electrical power, if no shore power is available when used in the mobile coach service,  then the unit operates 100% from internal power supply. Most insurance policies within your RCM system are easily updated without additional cost with assistance from our billing staff. There are minimal fees for gowns and paper supply.

What is the average reimbursement for SRT?

A single lesion treated with 10 fractions is a “blended” $2,200. Multiple lesions can be treated during the same 15 minute treatment session and reimburse $2,800.  We use $1,900 as the average.

How many patients can be treated in a typical work day?

With our Mobile Treatment unit we treat 3-4 patients per hour with a 2 hour minimum.  This is a great way to get started until your patient volume builds.
